About SA Adventure
SA Adventure is this go-getter adventure company that was founded in 2009 by Tim Skelton. The intent was to teach people how to use their 4×4 vehicle’s correctly, responsibly and safely. They have since built a solid reputation in the industry for providing professional 4×4 training courses and off-road adventure tours with all their instructors and guides being fully accredited with loads of experience.
It’s SA Adventure’s mission to support the South African tourism industry, especially with Covid-19 taking its toll. They do this by supporting small local lodges with bookings during their off-road tours, and this brings much-needed cash flow to these small businesses.
Each one of their instructors and guides are highly qualified with all the right credentials. They have many years of experience between them in both driving 4×4 vehicles as well as adventure motorcycles, often having to deal with particularly challenging situations in the remotest of areas.

4x4 Training with SA Adventure
Introductory 4x4 Training
SA Adventure’s introductory 4×4 Training Course is awesome for beginners looking to get started in the world of off-roading. It’s not only suitable but recommended for all types of 4×4 and soft-4×4 vehicles!
This course was designed with the beginner in mind and they take the approach that you know little to nothing about your Land Cruiser and all it’s capable of. They will slowly build your confidence levels throughout the action-packed day which takes place at their dedicated 4×4 training facility north of Johannesburg, specifically designed for this purpose. The course is great for participants to learn both the theory and practical elements of off-road driving and further any previously gained knowledge.
Recovery 4x4 Training
Driving your Land Cruiser off-road demands a pretty different mindset and obviously very different skills to driving on the road. SA Adventure’s Recovery 4×4 course will build on that already existing base of skills to include safety and proper handling of your Cruiser in any recovery situation.
Trust us, at some point, everyone gets stuck somewhere on their 4×4 off-road or overlanding adventures. When this happens it really is very important to know how to use all your 4×4 recovery equipment correctly to get yourself out of trouble quickly and most importantly, safely. SA Adventure’s Recovery 4×4 Training course is designed to teach you just this.
Off-Road Tours with SA Adventure
SA Adventure has been running as an off-road 4×4 adventure tours operator since 2009. No previous 4×4 or off-road driving experience is needed for you to join one of their tours, as they we will teach you everything you need to know as they go.
Their track record speaks for itself and the relationships they have with all the lodges and hotels on their 4×4 tours have been built up over the years.
The guys at SA Adventure are big on safety, making sure they are always fully qualified, accredited, and insured for all types of experiences they offer. They have a full support truck, guide and medic on every tour which means you get to relax on your 4×4 adventure knowing that they have taken care of all the details to make your off-road experience one to remember!
