ADVANCED 4x4 DRIVING & RECOVERY COURSE

in partnership with

Heading to Deepest Darkest Africa or just need to learn how not to damage your vehicle while playing at the quarry down the road, this course is for you. We cover everything thing from which button to push when, all the way to how to recover a vehicle safely. The morning has a theory session covering the essential do’s and don’ts of offroad driving before heading straight into the deep end. The practical session is designed to cover a variety of off-road scenarios which will challenge both driver and vehicle, safely.  For those wanting to learn the art of getting out of sticky situations, you can opt for the *Recovery technique session *(This is optional and must be confirmed when signing up for the course).

 

Vehicles can be supplied on request at no additional cost. 

 

VENUE: Zwartkops Raceway (Pretoria West) & De Wildt, and onsite training also available where possible

 

COST: R4, 250.00 per person (including VAT)

 

CATERING: Tea/Coffee/Muffins on arrival, Lunch, Coldrinks & Waters

 
*Courses are run subject to a minimum of 8-drivers on the day

08:00 – 08:30 | Arrival & Registration

  • Vehicle dynamics
  • 4×4 transmission operations
  • Multi-terrain select (MTS)
  • Tyres & tyre pressures
  • Suspension
  • Engaging low range
  • Engaging diff-lock

10:00 – 12:30 | Practical Driving Techniques

  • Steep descents (up to 70%)
  • Steep ascents (up to 70%)
  • Ditch crossing (with diff-lock engagement)
  • Side slopes

12:30 – 13:00 | Lunch Break

13:00 – 16:00 | Practical Driving Continues

  • Rock crawling
  • Mud driving (seasonal)
  • Recovery demonstration:
    • Winching techniques
    • Recovery strap usage
    • Self-recovery methods

16:00 – 16:30 | Debriefing & Certificate Presentation

  • Wrap-up discussion
  • Certificate & TAD Cap presentation
