The Land Cruiser FJ is Toyota's most affordable Land Cruiser ever — and one of the most exciting. Built on a modified IMV platform (shared with the Hilux and Fortuner), it brings classic boxy FJ40-inspired design language into a compact, sub-Prado package that launched in South Africa in mid-2026. With a naturally aspirated 2.7-litre engine, rear differential lock, low-range transfer case, and Toyota-claimed wheel articulation matching the LC70, it punches well above its price point off-road. At R714,000 for the GX, it opens Land Cruiser ownership to a new generation of South Africans.
Who It's For
Younger buyers, entry-level overlanders, urban adventurers, and anyone who was priced out of a Prado but wants genuine Land Cruiser capability and DNA. Also compelling as a second 4x4 for existing LC owners.
