The Land Cruiser 100 Series runs a stock tyre size of 275/70R16. The most common upgrade is 285/75R16 — roughly a 33-inch tyre. The one thing to know before you go bigger is whether you have the IFS 100 or the solid-axle 105.

Like the 80 before it, the 100 sits on 16-inch rims, and 285/75R16 adds width and sidewall for more clearance without changing the wheel.
IFS 100 vs Solid-Axle 105
This is the detail that trips people up. The petrol and V8 100 Series uses independent front suspension (IFS), while the 105 keeps a live front axle like the 80 Series. They wear the same stock and upgrade tyre sizes, but they don’t behave the same when you upsize.
The solid-axle 105 generally clears larger tyres with a bit more room, much like the 80. The IFS 100 is more sensitive — as the tyre grows you’re more likely to catch rubbing at full lock, and the front geometry is less forgiving of big lifts. For most IFS 100 owners, 285/75R16 (33s) with a mild lift and a clearance check at full steering is the sensible ceiling before the compromises start outweighing the gains.
